This internal report was produced by staff at English Electric,
and gave an evaluation and criticism the recently announced IBM 360 series.
It recommended that English Electric abandon their 48-bit machines such as the
KDF9, and follow the IBM philosophy,
which involved 32-bit machines and a series of compatible machines of different powers.
English Electric announced their "System 4" series shortly afterwards, but were then absorbed by ICL
who had remained with 24 bit machines such as Nottingham's ICL 1906A in 1970.
